May 12, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Novastep, Inc., and its affiliates (“Novastep” or the “Company”), a global medical technologies company specializing in foot and ankle implants, biologics, instrument systems and medical education programs, today announced that registration is open for the 2016 Global Foot and Ankle Symposium (GFAS) to be held on December 2-3 in New York City, New York.
The GFAS is Novastep’s annual, flagship medical education program, returning to New York City once again this year. The agenda is entirely dedicated to the treatment of foot and ankle conditions and will include expanded sessions on biologics and Charcot fracture management. The faculty is comprised of key opinion leaders from North America, Europe, Australia and South Africa. This year’s installment is being co-chaired by Thomas S. Roukis, DPM, PhD, FACFAS, Past President of the ACFAS and Keith L. Wapner, MD, Past President of the AOFAS. Wapner noted that “The GFAS is a unique opportunity to gain from the experience of thought leaders in Foot and Ankle Surgery from around the world.” He underscored that “The case review format promotes in-depth discussions and analyses of clinical issues and a dialog of how treatment plans are developed and executed by the faculty.” Wapner played a key role in last year’s GFAS and observed that “The interaction between the faculty and the attendees provides a unique educational experience.”
In addition to its central format of fully moderated panels and roundtables, the program will feature an interactive series of point/counterpoint debates, case discussions, case controversy deliberations, didactic presentations, practical hands-on breakout sessions and technical updates, all delivered from an international perspective to highlight prevailing, best-in-class treatment methods for a broad range of foot and ankle disorders. “The Symposium has been formulated to provide in depth, yet practical information that is relevant to current foot and ankle surgical practices” explained Roukis, adding that “We will include a purposeful blend of expert opinion and pearls of wisdom, complemented by summaries of higher level evidence and original research.” Roukis, who moderated at last year’s GFAS, emphasized that “The pro-con debates are guaranteed to be lively, collegial and highly informative with an international faculty that will encourage full participation from the attendees.”
